Kick in Roll in

 "For the purposes of Law 15, does a player, when restarting with either a kick in or roll in, have to have at least one foot on the touchline?" This is to perhaps clarify the wording in the law.

I don't know if you understand the Team Walk process better than I but, if so, could I ask you to post it for me?

I have to say that I do not find the Team Walk site easy to interact with.

    The player taking the kick-in/roll-in: • must have part of each foot on the touch line or on the ground outside the touch line at the moment of kicking/rolling the ball • must use an underarm action when rolling the ball in

    Hi,

    We still cant work this out at the session I coach. And even in a game that had a referee we all found it confusing.

    You cant possibly kick in a ball with both feet on the line. It doesn't work physiologically. You can roll it with one foot on the line which we are doing but its still a bit weird. 

    We dont play many competitions but when we do we ask the referees before the game starts to clarify and in some cases like this to demonstrate what they would like to see, then we're all on the same hymn sheet. 

    It's a strange law though.

    Is it possible that it means two feet can be on the line whilst completing a roll in? 

    would it be an issue if the roll in option was removed leaving the kick in as the only option?

    I think for a kick in, it's clear what has to happen. So, firstly, the ball has to be stationery and on the touch line. Therefore the kicker physically must be close enough to the ball to kick it when it is in the required position. that is with either one foot on the touchline or very near to it - say within a foot or so. However, the position is far less clear for a throw in. The ball is not going to be on the line and stationery and therefore there is no physical requirement, as I have described above.  Further, the law does not specify how close "or on the ground outside the touch line" actually means.  Therefore potentially the thrower in can be , say, 6 yards away from the line. But I'm sure all refs would require the player to come as close to the line as possible.

    Could be, never thought of it that way. We had a ref who insisted both feet were on the line until I queried it with the rule book in hand and asked for a demo! Lol 

    Aa for removal of the throw in....I only see a handful (no pun intended hehe) of players who do it. Personally I dont know why they prefer it but I guess its a confidence thing. I assume its an 'adaptation' leftover from when Walking Football was developed as a game for those with health conditions. Like it or not that's not the case anymore so I guess removal would be more problematic than trying to fix a problem thats not broken. 

    If refs know what Law 15 means and can show or clearly explain to players thats great!!
