Have an interview coming up March 7th to be a Volunteer at the EUFA Champions League Final Game

Hi beautiful England Football Communty,

I am new to this community and I know its only ONLINE and we dont know each other. But I have learned quiet a bit just from reading the forums and learning what everyone is doing. I am really glad to be part of a community who is just as passionate about sports as I am.

So I am not sure if I told but last year I applied to be a volunteer in the world of sports in so many different avenues, the Olympics, The Euro Cup, The Eufa Champions League Final Game. A couple of days ago, I got an email from EUFA saying that I got an interview March 7th to be a volunteer for the EUFA Champions League Final Game which will be Wembley Stadium June 1st. I am so excited to say the least. A couple of years ago, I applied to be a volunteer for the World Cup in Russia and I almost made but because I didnt speak Russian, i wasnt selected. This time, I really want to get this opportunity given that I have also just moved to London and hope to stay here long term. Do you guys have any advice on how to advice this interview? Or do you have any experience with people in this group that have volunteered for these events, what are they located at? What are the skills they want? How can I possibly ace this interview.

I think it will be an amazing opportunity for me to meet people and make connections!

  • Hi Maria, this is so exciting, congratulations for getting an interview! It is great to hear that the community has been impactful for you so far,

Advice wise, I'd say be yourself and showcase as many different experiences as you can and how they link to the skills you have built, don't assume they know anything about you from your application make sure to tell them in detail about what practical experience you have that would make you good for the role. Finally, an interview is a conversation so think about what questions you might have for them.

do you have any words of wisdom for Maria?

  • Hi Maria,

    Congratulations!

I would like to echo Emma's comments, I'm really glad that you have found the community and it is useful for you.

I would add the following: let your passion for football (sport) shine through, and also really help the interview panel understand why you want the role, in addition to the skills and experience you bring.  It's also a bit weird to say, but enjoy it - remember that by being there you have nothing to lose!

    Good luck!

  • Hi Maria, that sounds super exciting! It's great to hear you're finding the community page so helpful.

I would definitely recommend going in prepared with questions for them - make sure you leave feeling like you know what they're expecting from you in that role.

And then I'd just say try and be yourself and relax. It can feel really daunting but you got through to the interview stage for a reason so remember that and be confident in yourself Slight smile

    Best of luck!
