What is it?
A series of regional roadshows that aim to extend the reach of The Greater Game (TGG) to young people. We aim to empower the young people to live the core principles of The Greater Game whilst encouraging them to make one healthier action per week. You can find out more about TGG here: https://www.englandfootball.com/participate/greater-game
Our Roadshow objectives are:
• To bring The Greater Game’s principles to life through on-pitch and off-pitch activations
• To educate and empower young people to better understand the relationship between their health and football
• To drive awareness, uptake and engagement of The Greater Game in five geographic areas linked to Flagship Clubs
Format
TGG Roadshow will deliver:
• On-pitch move well activities: football tournament with seven playing slots per team across a range of formats, 5v5, 4v4, 3v3 and 1v1, alongside
• Off-pitch educational activations to eat well (x2 – pre- and post-match) and think well, supplemented by a sleep well goodie bag to leave with.
When and where will it be?
Five regional events, supported by/delivered at five Flagship Club locations (the ambassadors for our programme)
• Event 1 – Newton Abbot, Devon – Thursday 29th May, application deadline: Monday 31st March
• Event 2 – East London – Saturday 28th June, application deadline: Friday 9th May
• Event 3 – Warwick, Birmingham – Sunday 29th June, application deadline: Friday 9th May
• Event 4 – Hull, East Riding – Monday 4th August, application deadline: Monday 16th June
• Event 5 – Knowsley, Liverpool – Tuesday 5th August, application deadline: Monday 16th June
Justification
Based on feedback from Flagship Clubs and delegates from our Coaches Conference 2024, held at St Georges Park, there is a desire for more localised support for TGG. A roadshow would enable messaging to be disseminated nationally and guide individuals towards our other interventions.
