The FA Walking Football Cup Finals

The FA Walking Football Cup Finals
In early November, I had the opportunity to volunteer at The FA Walking Football Cup Finals at St George’s Park as part of my role on Hertfordshire FA’s Youth Council. The event was shared through my County FA and also on the England Football Youth Leadership and Volunteering page.
The competitions began with county qualifiers taking place throughout the summer and progressing to 6 regional heats and then the National Finals on November 3rd at St Georges Park.
My role involved supporting registration and pitch coordination, meaning I had the opportunity to speak to lots of people and experience the whole event!
This was a great experience taking part in an area of football I hadn’t experienced before and also roles I hadn’t had the opportunity to do before, such as the pitch coordination. I really enjoyed speaking with the referees and players about their experiences of walking football; it’s great that they are able to experience all the benefits of football in a format that suits them.
It was amazing to see the awards ceremony at the end, a fantastic end to a fantastic tournament!
I truly enjoyed the event and would recommend reaching out to your County FA’s to learn more about volunteering opportunities like this. It’s a great way to experience more of the game and develop your skills.
