My name is Reece Tailor, and I am the co-founder of a community club in Enfield/Cheshunt called UPFC and I love my club that I have helped create and couldn’t think of anything better to do.
The club started in 2020 with a group of friends with a passion of playing football together and that is where we started our journey as a 6 a side football team where I played to start off with but as the team grew, I took a backseat role and managed the team instead. We soon gathered some popularity with players wanting to join us so we decided venture into 11 a side adult football. However, when we came to start that, COVID happened which meant the idea was put on pause, but it meant we could spend our time on Zoom putting everything in place for our return but it is also where my passion for running the club really stemmed from.
Fast forward a season later and we had completed our first season however it was also a sad time as a club I had coached for a number of years had folded however this led to the birth of UPFC Youth which is where I am heavily involved in the daily running of the club. When we started UPFC Youth which is a branch in the main club we started off with one team, secondary school girls development and a mix primary school session. This was all in September 2021 fast forward to September 2023 we now have two men’s team (Saturdays and Sundays) but also our youth side has grown to two teams, two wildcats’ centres, two squad centres, two boys development centres, futsal centre and goalkeeper training. This has been a crazy journey in only two years but something I have loved doing and can’t wait to see what the future holds for this fantastic club UPFC, but this is something I can’t do without my team around me.
The club has had its up and downs like any club, but my motivations and my passion for my club keeps me going while also studying at university to become a primary school teacher. One of the biggest motivations I have when running the club is the players involved, everything I do is to see the players smile when they turn up for the sessions but also when they leave. The biggest thing I pride myself on is creating a football club that has the idea of a family where everyone enjoys the sessions, but everyone feels welcome to be themselves at the club.
Finally, this club is truly amazing and it is truly down to the most supportive and caring parents, players and coaches who put their full trust in me to steer the club in the right direction.
