How easy was the Club Affiliation process? Were there any difficulties?
A lot of preparation needed but if the relevant documentation is all in place prior to begin the process then all is good. But that is from a secretary who has been through the affiliation and accreditation process several times.
Re-affiliation wasn't too much of a problem, but very frustrated with having to pay for multiple Personal Accident Insurance Policies (one per team) when the vast majority of our players are registered for more than one team, so in reality being insured more than once.
The other issue with the system is that there is no option to create a 'Mixed' Walking Football Team - the only option being Male OR Female!
Good point about male and female teams. We had to get our county support team to alter some detail so that a female player could be registered both for our women’s league squad and the mixed squad.
That's exactly what we had to do as well. A 'mixed' option needs to be added.....
Whilst the process has become much easier over time, there are still issues that can be difficult to resolve electronically. An example is adding an additional during the August-June FA season. this feeds into the main issue for me, ie we play in a summer league so have to affiliate twice during a summer season and have to register all the players again in July. I would also agree with the issue of mixed gender teams.
I still can’t fathom why all the players need to be registered again. That definitely needs to be different for walking football as we don’t have a definitive season as such and a number of leagues run multiple seasons within any 12 months (winter, summer leagues etc) and Les’s point about summer leagues that straddle the months of June and July is a nightmare for secretaries.
