Affiliation Costs, are they appropriate?

Just gone through the process of affilaiting our teams to the FA for the 2023/24 season. I must admit to feeling a little aggrieved about the team Insurance payments. The current set up means that we seem to be paying multiple Insurance premiums for the same players? Lots of walking footballers play across different age categories and in essence a club are paying twice or three times for one player to play in 3 teams. For example a female player plays in our ladies only team across two age groups plus one of our mixed gender teams as well. Surely the FA and the Insurance providers can find a suitable way for individual players to be covered across teams.Surely a nominal fee of around £3 per player linked to their FAN number would be a way forward?

  • Mick, I have to agree with you.  We are a very small club that plays in the Oxfordshire League with one Over-50s and one Over-60s team. The Over-50s team is predominantly made up of players who are already registered with the Over-60s team, so as you say it feels like they are being double insured!   At £50 a team, £100 is a massive outlay for us and we are now being encouraged to form an Over-70s team which will also be made up primarily of players currently registered with our Over-60s. I am a prime example at 66 years old - I am registered with the Over-60s and Over-50s and the proposed new Over-70s league is likely to allow an Over-65s goalkeeper - why do I need to be triple insured and why does the club have to fork out £150????
