Moving from 7v7 to 11v11 football can be a big jump for young players. What do you do to help players make this transition?

Surely we jump to 9 v 9 rather than straight to 11 v 11?

For the transition from 7v7 to 11v11, I'm currently following the approach suggested by most in the know in youth development to spend a couple of years playing 9v9. Hopefully, this will help the players…

Hi Simon, Yes, you would be correct in your thinking moving from 7v7 (U9/U10) to 9v9 (U11/U12). I have replied below on the main thread with some simple considerations of how to approach this with the players. Matt :-)
