We must use some individual tactic?
Surely we jump to 9 v 9 rather than straight to 11 v 11?
For the transition from 7v7 to 11v11, I'm currently following the approach suggested by most in the know in youth development to spend a couple of years playing 9v9. Hopefully, this will help the players transition.
When moving from 7v7 to 9v9 it’s tempting to get heavy with the tactical knowledge & detail, which can quite often fly over the heads of young players.
Here are some ‘basic’ questions and ideas to help players acclimatise to the step-up and changes in laws...
Hi Simon, Yes, you would be correct in your thinking moving from 7v7 (U9/U10) to 9v9 (U11/U12). I have replied below on the main thread with some simple considerations of how to approach this with the players. Matt :-)
We play 8v8 or 9v9 then to 11v11. I think it is for help to train 3v3 session. Because we start form 5v5, plus 3 players, that transit to 8v8. For me it means each zone on the pitch will create 3v3 or 4v4 group, it like 5v5 game which we started.
