Hard - Surface Training

Evening all,

I just wondered what everyone’s thoughts were on the use of 5 a side hard surfaced playing areas for training. As it doesn’t accurately reflect the type of conditions and surface that the kids will play on on a match weekend, I personally see it as purely an anaerobic fitness session with the opportunity for feedback on basics such as movement and communication that will compliment weekend training.

Does anybody else use it for drills of any kind and is so, do you find this approach makes a difference?

Look forward to your thoughts.

Thanks

  • Lee - I agree with comments already made especially one about improvement of control. Players sometimes complain that pitch too small but I would suggest that in a match they are often working in one area that is quite small. Furthermore , it helps them to master the limited space and always makes them try and find space in different ways.

    Hope that helps ?
