Hi,
I've coached grassroots for 8years and worked with a talented group of boys right through to U13 level. Recently i've switched to a coaching a mixed ability group at a new club and found when playing in defence several of the boys are uncomfortable passing back to our GK, instead just kicking the ball out for a corner. Ideally i'd prefer them to be braver and stay on the ball and work with a teammate to pass their way out of trouble but we are not at that level at present so for now i'd rather they used our goalkeeper as good option instead.
Has anyone come across any good exercises for building confidence in players to pass back to the goalkeeper when under pressure from attackers.
Thanks in advance,
Mike.
