Public Liability Insurance For Leagues

Is there anyone here that runs/organises/administers a walking football league?

If so, does you organising committee take out any specific public liability insurance in the name of the league?

For clarity, I am not talking about the public liability and personal accident insurance that each of the clubs/teams are required to take out via their County FAs.

  • Hi Mick - do you mean the ‘sanctioning’ process that we go through with our local county FA?

    I assumed likewise but now having doubts/concerns…

    The clubs and teams all have their own public liability and personal accident insurance but what is the situation for members of a committee that actually run the league?

  • I have tried to look but cant find the answer, but like you I always felt that the sanctioning process gave some cover to the league committee with regards to public liability. The Bluefin policy document I have an old copy of talks about club/league cover so clearly designed for both purposes, but like you I am now unclear whether you automatically get the liability cover through the sanctioning process or have to purchase it seperately.

  • Morning John, information from my county FA is as follows;

    Individual Leagues will take out Public Liability Cover on affiliation. If it is a tournament run by a club then they would be covered by the Public Liability taken on affiliation.

    So The Lincolnshire Walking Football league would need to take out a liability Insurnace policy when affiliating/sanctioning the league.

    Grimsby Corinthians running a tournament already have the cover as part of their club affiliation.

    Thats how I understand it.
