National Cup Branding

As we move towards 2024, the planning is well underway to launch a National Cup for Walking Football. One of the key projects is in developing a brand which includes an identity, a brandmark or logo, associated imagery, wordmarks and graphics to bring this to life, as well as advertising copy and assets for socials, websites, etc.

We would like you as the intended audiences to help us make the decisions on what this should all look and feel like.

What would you like to see included in this; what look and feel should it have, what messaging should it include, what types of imagery should be included?

In addition, we will be hosting an online session in January in which some of the first drafts can be shared with you for further feedback. An invite to this session will be emailed across to all members of the online community.

    Some thoughts

    • Important to use the FA 3 Lions badge as part of branding
    • possibly a silhouette of the cup(s) with FA branding
    • Age range – is there just one Cup for everyone over 40 or 50 or 60 etc and a women only cup?
    • Positive images of older people enjoying the game, the banter etc.
    • Push the right ‘spirit’ of playing walking football. Competitive but fair.
    • DO NOT USE images that are related to old age e.g. zimmer frames etc. Walking football is liberating and has positive health impacts. Find the good news stories about walking football such as being bigger than a sport, lots of Clubs fundraise for charities.
    • A powerful image could be a group of men/women in their 60s/70s being seen to walk onto a football pitch and magically transform into teenagers, play walking football and then transform back into 60s/70s year olds as they leave the pitch after play because that’s what happens inside all our heads.

It would be helpful to have some information on the age ranges, type of competition (mixed/women only), dates etc out asap as fixture planning picks up in the early new year.
