If your club is affiliated, what have been the benefits?

  • The affiliation package provides us with the necessary PI Insurance cover. We pay for the slightly more expensive County Cover Plus but as with all Insurance premiums you have no idea if its any good until you need to use it! This is the same for the personal injury insurance as well. It doesn't appear to be particularly aimed at the older player and I wonder about its worthiness? Being affiliated does provide easy access to the county FA officers when their support is needed but it is clear that the support offered to walking football clubs varies from county to county. Ours has always been first class. I would prefere the personal injury cover be linked to a players individual registration rather than a blanket team cover due to players being covered by multiple policies when playing for more than one age category if that makes sense?

  • Our experience is basically the same as Michael's - we get all the support we want from Oxfordshire FA officers and the insurance policies are good BUT as Michael points out, it is very costly having to take out a separate Personal Injury Policy for each individual team (we have 3 walking football teams in different age groups) when the vast majority of our players are registered for at least two if not three of our teams and thereby practically being insured 3 times. A much fairer scheme has to be for a club like ours to be able to take out a single Personal Injury Policy for all our walking footballers!
