Injuries

One of the challenges we face is players returning too soon after an injury usually a pulled muscle or a strain. They then injure themselves again. The coaches ask if the player is OK, tell them to take it easy and watch them in the warm up. We have had a few players injure themselves during their comeback session. Any tips or processes other clubs use.

  • Not sure there is much more that can be done at our level.  The players need to take responsibility for themselves and their injuries.  The only time that coaches and clubs should intervene is when the injury is related to things like concussion, where protocols already exist and things like heart issues when the club could request some form of medical confirmation of fitness to play.

  • Hi John and Len,

Would some guidance on how to warm-up effectively be of use to Clubs to share with players? They can take responsibility for themselves but with support for those who may not know what/how to do this? Particularly thinking about those muscular injuries or for players new to the game and/or increasing their levels of physical activity.
