Any Suggestions On formations For 7 v 7 under 10's

HI, Has Anyone Used Any formations For 7 v 7 under 10's I am finding that the current coaches i am working with use a 3 - 3 which leaves so much space in the middle and struggle with the defenders filling in the gap.

Depending on your team: 1 primary defender, 2 defensive midfielders, 1 central mid, 2 wingers / forwards. We tried 2/3/1 but the forward seldom touched the ball. How much positioning do you teach in the sessions.
