HI all
Is this a done thing anymore? I'm new to coaching and I remember running around a football pitch 10 times to build up stamina and fitness before training, but then that was in the 80s.
I'm interested, what does everyone else do at training?

Absolutely! Warming up before training is still essential, but the approach has evolved. Instead of just running laps, modern warm-ups focus on dynamic stretching, mobility drills, and sport-specific movements to activate muscles and prevent injuries. Exercises like high knees, leg swings, arm circles, and bodyweight squats help improve flexibility and performance. Static stretching is usually saved for after training.
