Teaching offside rules

Hi, my U11 team needs to start playing offside next season. Are there any good sessions to teach offside while maintaining the 70% ball rolling target?

  • This can be simply introduced by putting flat disc's across your SSG indicating a basic off side line and putting restrictions in place that a player can not cross this line until the ball has. This should start the players decision making process and get them used to holding runs until a ball is played. As they get used to the flat disc's then introduce defenders (remove the flat disc's) as the offside line as this will be a fluid line that moves with the game but will require either players or a coach to assist to run the line. Hope this helps. Very basic but will get your players working with the offside ruling.
