Under 14's Summer Football Tournament

Hello,

We will be taking part in a 6-a-side under 14's football tournament soon.

As it's preseason, we haven't had any training due to holidays etc.

I am thinking of a short 15min warmup that I can run with the 8 players I have to maximise passing, reciveing and movment. The matches are only 10 minutes long, one-way.

Of course, space will be limited so I cannot just go setting up my equipment everywhere.

What advice do other coaches do with regards to tournaments on the day, and in between group matches.

Thanks

  • Hi Alex, we used a directional rondo game, loads of opportunity to pointing out roles at a turnover. SSG pitch small goal either end. split squad into 3, one team on outside and two playing each other. Team in possession can use a pass out, neither team can leave the pitch, outside team cannot enter. change teams on a goal or set minutes. Add conditions that after 3 passes inside it has to go out, players on outside are 2 touch and can or cannot pass to each other. plenty of balls outside to keep the intensity. We have seen a big jump in their 'tournament style' after using this. Paul
