Am I too old to start out as a football coach?

I would like to change career and retrain as a football coach. I am in my 50s and not as fit as I once was.

I have zero experience of football coaching but I am a qualified teacher and well used to working with kids in other settings.

Never really been that good at playing football myself but a huge fan of the game and I've seen firsthand how football can bring diverse communities together.

Any 'older' coaches out there that started in later life?

    Not at all. You have experience of working with children so thats a starting point. You would need to complete your DBS, safe guarding and play maker course as a starting point but reach out to a local club or county FA as they may help you fund (the club) your courses. Personally i would start with the youngest age group as that will ease you into coaching and then take them the whole way through their grassroots journey and be a mentor in/out of football.
