Hi guys,
I have just passed my coaching course and just wanted to say all the best to each and everyone one of you for the future.
I would just like to share with you all before I go how proud I am of my U13s girls team we have only been together 2 months and have had 6 training sessions, some of the girls have never kicked a ball before joining our team.yesterday we played our first match (Friendly)
I could see that a few of them was nervous so gathered them all together and sat them down and explained that we don’t care about the score just go out and enjoy the experience of playing football, I said 25% is ability and 75% is PMA (I hear this somewhere) positive mental attitude, I got them to take deep breaths and repeat 10 times to them selves that they are the best player on the pitch.
we played 4 - 15 quarters, 1st quarter we were 1-0 down but the team never let their heads drop and produced an amazing defensive effort to keep the opposition to 1 goal.
2nd Quarter we started to press them and it made them panic and kick the ball to one of our players who made an excellent run down the wing, cut in and shot 1-1 the celebrations from the team was priceless, then within 2 minutes the opposition scored again.
3rd and 4th quarters we pressed at every opportunity and the opposition coaches were shouting at their players
( singling out their players) It was like the video of Gareth Southgate and the opposition coach!
the match ended with a 2-1 loss, but if felt like a win for us and the pride we felt as coaches was massive even getting some good feedback and praise from the parents.
the girls are now asking when is the next match!!
cheers!
kelvin.
