Does anybody else think 5vs5 is a strange set up formation

5vs5 I can’t get my head around gk 1 defender 2 in middle and 1 striker. I try to ask the other team coaches 2 play 6vs6 in order to have a formation that to me makes more sense gk 2 defender 2 in the middle 1 striker

does anybody else do this ?

I ask mine to play with 1gk, 2 wide, 1 at the back and 1 up front. Gives width and depth and good for the next stage at 7v7 where we'll have another at the back and one in the centre. The children can call the positions whatever they like. I tend to talk about responsibilities.
