Happy New Year everyone!
In case you missed it over the festive period, FA physical education officer, Debbie Barry joined us on the latest episode of Coachcast to talk about giving players the platform to develop and thrive.
In this episode, we covered loads of topics, such as:
- designing sessions that make players want to come back
- advice on working with players of mixed ability
- developing sessions that meet the needs of all players within a large group
- session structures.
But one other thing that was mentioned was individual development plans (IDPs).
So, does anyone on here use IDPs? If so, what do you have in them? Do you have any top tips for creating them? And how often do you review them with your players?
For anyone who hasn't used them before, Debbie has set you the following challenge to try:
"In terms of those individual development plans (IDPs): can you work with your players to give them those in possession targets, those out of possession targets and then set the review times throughout the season where you can come back to it and assess it?"
For a starting point, try providing three targets for in possession and three targets for out of possession.
Then let us know how you get on!
