How to get into a club as a scout

Hi all. I have recently completed the fa talent Identification level 1 and safeguarding. I am not associated with any clubs and am unsure how to go about getting involved as all clubs say I need level 2 talent id. If anyone has any advise I would truly be extremely great full

  • Hi Shane,

Thanks for your query, firstly it's great to hear of your interest in becoming a scout!

To start with, it's a great first step to have completed the Introduction to Talent Identification course. Although advantageous, the National Talent Identification & Scouting in Football course isn't an essential prerequisite to securing a position as a scout within a football club.

Experience is a desired trait for clubs looking to recruit scouting professionals, so starting a voluntary capacity could be a really positive step to longer term employment within football. There are clubs at all steps of the game looking to expand their scouting network, with opportunities typically starting on a voluntary basis.

National Talent Identification & Scouting in Football is a really great developmental step to take if successful in securing a place on the course, this is an EPPP mandated qualification for some scouts working in the game, but based on the category status of their academy, some scouts will only have the Level 1 at present.

    Hope that helps
