Hi Stephen, have you tried The Boot Room at all? There are plenty of session ideas on there that you can use throughout the season and you can use the tagging system to find the right one for your players.
For this instance, these four sessions could be of use to you if you want to focus on transition.
This creativity in the attacking third session (small group practice) may also be of interest as this focuses on finishing after beating a defender, and it incorporates the use of the offside rule as a progression.
Hope this helps.
HI. ''wave'' SSG are great for transition.
3v3v3 , 4v4v4 or 5v5v5 depending on numbers. can work on secifics and set challanges for payers to meet requirements.
all 3 teams on 1 x small pitch - size depending on numbers.
Team 1 start in goal A
Team 2 outside Goal A
Team 3 start in Goal B
Team 2 attack Goal B. Team 3 defend
As soon as goal scored, or lose possession, Team 2 'immediately' get back and wait in goal B. Team 3 immmediately attack Goal A and team 1 defends. Again as soon as possession los, or a goal scored, then Team 1 immediately attack goal B and team 2 defend.
and on it goes. You can set invididual or team challenges. (every player must touch ball / have to switch the play before shooting / cannot pass back etc etc) and can play offsides.
Players need to concentrate and make take a few goes for them to 'get it', but once they do, its fast paced and a great way to get them switched on.
have plenty of balls to feed in, so they didn't have to stop to retrieve ball if off pitch.
Great, thanks. I have just joined so boot room looks ideal to pick up activities from.
