I run an under 11 development team moving into their second season.
They are progressing well but struggling with closing down the ball when defending.
Does anyone have any fun drills I can try?

Hi Kenneth,
Dividing the pitch into either halves or thirds and rewarding a team double goals for winning the ball back in half and scoring. Most players love scoring goals so this should hopefully incentivise pressuring the ball. Good session on England learning YouTube channel called ‘press for success’
Brilliant thank you; we will try this in training this week
You could try a small sided practice line-ball game.
Team in possession score by dribbling the ball over or stopping the ball on the line, instead of shooting at a goal.
Effectively the line is too big to protect by dropping back so the most effective way to defend is to try and pressurise the ball carrier to win the ball or force mistakes. if you can't pressurise the ball carrier, position to intercept the next pass. 2v2 / 3v3 etc. Hope that helps.
Good Luck
Can you share a video maybe I can help you
