Does anyone know of any exercises or drills to help girls move forwards and backwards as a team?

We are a newish team having only been together for a season and after a tournament at the weekend, it is clear we need to work on moving as a team (both whilst attacking and defending). Are there any exercises or drills we can do in training to help with this?

Many thanks.

  • Hi Natalie,

you could divide the pitch into thirds and encourage the team to occupy the middle and attacking third when in possession, and out of possession occupy middle and defensive third. Alternatively, you could say for a goal to count, all player must be over the half way line to encourage player to move up as play develops or reward extra goals for every player in the attacking half/third when a goal is scored
