Can anyone tell me if there's any way players can play down a year rather than up? 

A friend's son is small for his age and doesn't want to play in the u13 age group because they're all much bigger than him.  Would it be possible for him to play u12s?

    Hi Clare,

    I've had this before. One of our u8-u11's was small for his age but also held back a year at school. I had to go through our local FA and league, who in turn went to the main FA. I had to get a written report answering specific question from his school and parents and give details such as height/weight.

    It resulted in being given special dispensation to allow him to play down a year.
