Structure

Hi everyone

i am fairly new to coaching! Within the next 2 months I will be switching to full time coaching with a friend.

I have played football my whole life, I have lots of great drills, exercises, I just struggle with structure of a session..

I will be taking kids from 4-10 years of age for the first few months, anyone on here got a breakdown of how I should structure my sessions ( 1hour long) just to give me a idea of how long I should focus on certain things.

thankyou

  • Hi Archie. Brilliant that you are taking an active role in coaching the foundation age group ( my mentor used to say they are 6 before they are 16 so we get them first! ). In my experience of these ages I put the emphasis on play rather than drills/exercises so that the players have fun whilst learning the basics of the game.

Plenty of small sided games with plenty of touches for the players and they will come along nicely with your guidance and understanding.

There is loads of good engaging stuff on the FA bootroom which is a brilliant reference point.

    Good luck mate.
