I'm wondering if any coaches out there have any tips to improve young player bravery during matches. We have some kids with good technical ability and very useful in various drills but when matches kick off they are slightly afraid or tentative when attacking the ball/tackling and 50/50 type scenarios. Whereas others are naturally more inclined to get right into the mix but sometimes more limited technical ability.
Has anyone got any tips or drills to encourage these kind of kids to get more involved in the general play when the matches kick off or does it naturally progress over time with time on the pitch? Or is it a case of finding their position on the pitch to suit their skills and natural tendencies.
