Good sessions? winning a comp? developing as a coach? Keen to know.
Sessions have been better and more technical which is good for our age now. Seeing players develop quicker individually.
Feel more confident coaching.
We don’t win many but the team are still engaged and we have fun.
That's great Chad! Interested to know what has made you feel more confident coaching? Is it because of seeing players develop quicker?
adjusting from YDP to FP, (u16-u8) realising the importance of their first year is about getting to know them and their parents, gaining their trust and making it fun.
Noticing small developments in each player
Noticing at u8's they just want to play and the results are really low on their list so far !!!
Getting into the top league for our age group (u11), winning our first bit of silverware, seeing the 'lesser skilled' players in our team get better and better.
This is great Lee. I like your points especially noticing the small developments in each player. Can you elaborate more and provide some examples?
Thanks Lawrence,
A couple of examples are, and bearing in mind im still trying to get to know them and their parents.
1 youngster is fantastic at running with the ball AT 7yrs old he would come to training and before the start would run up and down, up and down non stop, so all i asked was could he run in a zig zag, over the 5 games we have played so far its amazing how many players he can go past all because hes unpredictable.
Another youngster just kept kicking the ball as soon as he recieved it i asked hin could he try to beat 1 player before passing now hes doing it in matches, but he knows i will not tell him off if it doesnt work.
They also have the confidence to speak about the team and individual performances after the game, which for 7/8 yr olds to me is amazing.
Weve played 5 games and been hammered in all, but their happy and enjoying it, their time will come
Hi Tim,
Purely what I regard as personal successes, in no particular order:
1) Co-founding a new club and becoming its secretary.
2) Becoming U8 manager of said club.
3) Seeing the U8 winning their first development league medals after a rocky start.
As mentioned, these are from a purely selfish angle. I also start my C Licence next month so I regard myself as very fortunate the ways things have gone.
This is really good to hear. Your are creating lots of inspirational opportunities for the players through your transformational coaching. It is wonderful to see how creative players can be if you give them the opportunity to do it. The important thing is that they are happy and enjoying football. In turn falling in love with the game. Great work Lee
These sound like great success Steven, well done! Look forward to hearing how you get on with your UEFA C.
Awesome, James! What did they get better at?
