Training curriculum?

Hi,

I'm just wondering if there's a type of "National curriculum" for football training?

Similar to how teachers stick to a national curriculum for teaching students, is there anything in place for teaching football?

I`ve just started with a new Under 10s team and the team varies in ability, it would be good to have a reference to start from the basics (such as basic passing and controlling) and also help training planning.

Or if anyone knows of any good websites where I can reference?

 Thanks

  • I would recommend reading up on the Foundation Phase material on the FA's website, Boot Room, etc. If I had to sum it up to someone, I would say the prime focus is on individual technical ability, i.e. running with the ball and striking the ball (shooting). Tactical ability, e.g. passing, game awareness comes later. It means we actually encourage players to be 'greedy' rather than offloading the ball at the first sign of challenge. Of course, like everything else, there are subtleties.
