Drills to encourage running at/past the opposition.

Can anybody recommend any sessions to encourage young players to run with the ball and take players on?

I coach U6’s looking to start their football journey this September. We’ve managed to develop some really good qualities such as staying on the ball and strong tackling but apart from a couple of exceptions most players avoid running at the opposition.

if anyone had any suggestions I’d appreciate it.

Thanks

Pete

they really are at the start of their journey, so i would just keep on with ball mastery and dribbling.

Make it lots of fun by " who can get to one end quicker" "how quick can you go through the cones" lots of tag rugby as well this will improve their running with the ball at others. old fashioned bulldog (safely) but all in all just repetition so they will all feel comfortable with the ball at their feet.

too many instructions at that age could just confuse them, lots of play

    all the best
