Thanks, James. Have you seen the sessions on the Bootroom? There are a lot of articles and interviews here too. The team push out monthly themed content. The link is here for the sessions -https://thebootroom.thefa.com/resources/sessions. The website is being redesigned and will form a 'hub' in the coming months. This will be a place that houses everything from videos to plans to community to interviews. Hope that helps.
Thanks Steven, all sound good to me! How do you / coaches go about developing these qualities then?
Patience, passion and positivity. Patience not just with players but also with yourself. You're only human, as are the players. Be patient in receiving feedback rather than just react emotionally. Reflective practice is a huge learning and development tool. No passion means no enthusiasm, and if you're not enjoying it, coaching can be a dark place. Positivity really means looking for the smallest of improvements and selling them as if they were the biggest ever. To that player, a little positive feedback makes a huge difference.
Hi Tim,
I think it's about experience and learning from it. I personally know I have run some sessions where the kids have been off it (mainly due to me not planning adequately for their needs). So, when done properly, these type of qualities tend to flow.
