Under 7's

Morning all,

Was wondering if I could get some guidance. I am currently in the process of setting up an Under 7s teams and have been learning the rules etc. With regards goal kicks I understand that the opposing team has to retreat to their own half.

What happens when the goalkeeper saves a shot? is it a case they can then roll/kick out from inside their box but players don't need to retreat? Or do they have to do a goal kick?

I've been looking for answers but cant find so any guidance be appreciated.

Thanks

The rule is written in such a way that it allows the option of a quick release from the keeper to begin a counter attack OR using the retreat line to allow players with less confidence to receive the ball and play from the back with a little more time before coming under pressure, HOPEFULLY moving away from just a long kick out from the keeper! I hope this helps clarify and good luck with your team. Please ensure that you meet their needs as young children first by making the environment enjoyable, positive and memorable. This first introduction to being a team can be really exciting but it can also come with lots of pressure, stress and disappointment. Work hard to get the environment right and let your parents know how they can support you in doing this. Pete
