Equal game time

Good evening everybody.

Does anyone else have a massive head scratch when it comes to giving all players equal game time? Does anyone have a winning formula as I'm slowly going insane. We play u11s, so 9v9, normally I only take 3 subs to a game to keep the game flowing and give each player plenty of time. We only have 6 games left this season and was wanting to take the maximum allowed of 5 subs, but trying to work out a formula to get everyone equal time, without changing every 5 minutes is making my brain melt! Does anyone else have this issue or is it just me ;-) and help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Wayne France - Bottesford u11s

  • I’ve always balanced playing time out across a season, rather that attempt it in each game. So week by week all players get to start on the bench, be subbed or play the whole game. Also only make substitutions at the same time each week to it keeps it easier to ensure the equal playing time.  I’m also sad enough to keep a log each week of who played what position and for long.  Needs by in from players and parents from the get go to avoid moans and groans about how long people play from week to week.
