End of season suggestion of Dads vs Kids session.

Hi All,

As part of end of season celebrations there has been a suggestion from some parents within my team to organise a kick about of dads vs. Kids (followed by awards). Personally as a newly qualified coach I am uncomfortable with this idea. Particularly from a safeguarding perspective (accidental injuries etc.).

I have found a couple of articles dating back to 2016 which does not recommend these types of events. However I was wondering if anyone had any current formal guidelines? It’s bad enough feeling like the party pooper to begin with, so some form of formality would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

  • Hey Matthew, thanks for your question. What age are the kids?

I don't think there are formal guidelines on this as such -it could be a nice bonding exercise but would need both teams to be clear on the rules of the game. To be honest, I don't see it as much different to a normal game - there is always a risk of injury.

What other things are you concerned about?

    Thanks

    Tim
