Ability Streaming

At what age group would you typically aim to split the squad by ability? There is a huge difference in ability levels in our U7s team and it feels right for everyone that they are grouped roughly by ability however we have been encouraged not to do that until u9s. Thanks

We managed to keep streaming out to the U9 / U10 ages. This season in U11 we run an extra hour for those with greater ability. We still keep all players together for half of the time though. The lesser ability players always perform better (football and general behaviour) when with the greater ability
