Filling the void left through lockdown

With the current situation that young players are in at the moment regaurding the lockdowns weve had covering 2 footballing seasons.

What can we do to recover the gap left in their football learning.

Has this pandemic left a hole in the development for children to

: 1 Cope with going back to football

  2. The goals as to where these youngsters want to be after 2 interupted seasons

3  The gulf in youngsters maybe playing at a higher level

4 Clubs not having the resourses to continue coaching after all this.

We dont want to put pressure on them by trying to bridge the gap left from not playing, because ultimately that could put some off,it could also bring on unwanted injurys.

There will be some youngsters that our not playing or training in elite acadamy's but maybe would of had a chance if we had not had these interuptions.

So will they miss out forever?

what would we like to see as grassroots coaches to combat this if needed?

More from the FA?

More from the county FA's

  • Hey Lee, great questions again. Apologies for not getting back to you sooner.
I certainly feel like it would have created a gap in their development and mindset towards development perhaps. I think there was a reliance on coaches to do their best to negate this during lockdown by providing things for players to do/work on. I feel like those who did that will reep the rewards now.
On reflection, what would your answers be to the questions. Are you starting to see (or have you seen) the effects on players development? If so, what? Thanks, Tim
