How are people finding this site?

Hi there. I'm new to this site and the community section of thefa.com and I was wondering how users are finding this site? What they use it for, what they find useful and what they find less useful? Apologies if this isn't the correct place for this question, but this is the most active part of the site. Would be great to hear how people found this site and what they think of it! Thanks :)

for me personally, and i know the site is quite new at the moment , but for us coaches, players, parents and so on i think its very hard to instantly be interactive with others on here, i also think coaching content is quite poor.

hopefully it will improve as the months go by.

    thanks lee

  • I agree lee , the layout just needs simplifying and to be attractive to users . A great effort by the designers but its not really appealing .the point system I feel is encouraging and the rewards are there to try and help others and learn and grab new information . it needs to be free flowing and users need content that will naturally engage them quickly ? quick change required i feel . but a good effort

  • Hi all, hope you're keeping safe and well. The site is very much in its infancy at the moment, so it will develop over time, however a key way for us to do that is to listen to constructive feedback from our community.

Really interesting reading this thread, so thanks for sharing your thoughts - with regards to content, what do you all feel would make this community platform more useful, engaging and tailored to you?

And with the design/layout, what do you feel needs adding or taking away to make things a bit easier to navigate?

We'll look to gather as much insight as we can to help shape future developments, so this might be the first of a few threads/applications asking for feedback.

    Thanks!

  • Hi CM

Thank you for considering feedback , below are some ideas

    1. front end design , perhaps boulder and bigger , so soon as we log on the content is in our face  (excuse the pun)  but I'm almost squinting my eyes to engage .

    2. wow factor regarding the forums and topics more boom to it ?

at the moment its just sat lonely and a little nudge to ignite each forum .

    3. problem solving page separate (help page where coaches can interact without reading through content through the central area , although the content is important it just separates and we can just go to that forum (like you have on the side .

    4. interactive session designer for coaches to use online upload on here and we can talk together in regards to the session content sensibly and with positive outcomes .

    5. what would you do page ? perhaps community managers or role models asking questions in what would you do to create a better outcome (peters famous phrases created a lot of feedback that allowed us coaches to really think deeper and opening up positive thoughts

thank you for what has already been done , i think its great but just needs a bit of wow ?

    regards

    baz

  • Thanks Baz, appreciate the feedback. Some interesting points here, will pass them on and see what we can do with future improvements to the platform!

  • evening CM

for me i would like a bit more incite as to what the future holds for us coaches, i know its  strange and difficult circumstances, but there are only so many times we can look at the same things in the boot room.

theres no new CPD courses to improve our understanding, no, dare i say it, goal to tackle in learning apart from reflecting and improving on what we are doing all ready.

Dont get me wrong im learning always but to move onto the next level when im ready is something that i/we have no idea what, when, how will happen. Im also worried that coaches will get bored of being static on and off the feild and we will see a decline in the coaching community.

when i say " moving on " in levels coaching wise, yes it is personal but more for the fact that i think the kids deserve more in their development than a stationary level 1 coach that doesnt know what the future holds.

how about some blogs from coaches that have passed each level and to give an insight into what that course did for them in coaching, physically and mentally and how it changed there way of thinking not just on the pitch but in life as well

    cheers lee

  • Hi great reply and good ideas moving forward , a lot of my cpd hours and learning was supported by my mentors and county coach developer , the impact having theses fantastic teachers in reel time face to face was gold dust ,my enthusiasm has personally dropped towards learning loosing theses individuals but never towards the children , long term this will impact coaches not just only coaches , it’s the children that will miss out not having them in these vital roles , who ever made the decisions to remove the titles I forgive you and please can you reconsider and reinstate them quickly to minimise the damage and impact before it takes hold . No disrespect intended regards baz

  • Hi Lee and Baz. Some more good ideas here, thanks for sharing your thoughts.

It is a difficult time for everyone at the moment, and there has been a lot of adapting and change in the last few months in particular.

I don't hold the answers so can't comment too much on what will happen in the future - but hopefully, in the not so distant future, things will become a bit clearer to help you and others on your coaching journey, as a lot of hard work is going on behind the scenes with regards to courses and support.

For now, I feel this is where the sense of community is even more important, to keep people engaged and in touch with the coaching world, and hopefully, this platform can provide that.

With regards to learning, have you looked at any webinars on our YouTube channel at all? Some really insightful things on there if you haven't checked it out.

We'll keep adding blogs on here, but of course, if there's anything specific people would love to read/find out more about/find a solution to, post in the forums and we'll see what we can do to help!

Appreciate this doesn't alleviate your concerns around what happens next, it isn't easy with everything that's going on regarding the impact lockdown is having, but hopefully, step by step we can help you to stay engaged and help you develop further for when football returns and eventually when things go back to some form of normal.
