Dealing with loss of confidence

Hi

I have a player who has lost his confidence. These were the words he used. His head goes down staright away when in matches. I have observed him and it seems like the game is passing him by and as if he is not playing in a football match. He does not enage the oppostion players. Does anyone have ideas on how to approach this before I deal with the situation? I was thinking about doing 1v1's in training to get some of his confidence back?

Many thnaks

Pete

    what age are they?

what age in comparrison to their peers.

first things first talk to the player

what is their worries on and off the pitch.?

    have they moved schools?

    hows the family.?

has their friendship group changed, hows school going?

are they doing exams and so on?

be really nosey but without showing it

once you have information like that off the feild then you can work on confidence building on the field

hope he or she comes through this

personally football is more off the pitch than on the pitch in my experience
