Goal kicks

Does anyone have any tips on goal kicks for 5v5? We struggle when teams press us and give the ball away to the opposition because of bad starting positions and support play. I know the kids are only young and it's more about them having fun but they get upset when it keeps happening

  • Hi James, Are you playing with a retreat line?  Having an agreement with the opposition that on goal kicks all players from the opposition stay in their own half stay in their own half until the GK has passed the ball under control to one of their players to then combine and connect as they try and score goals as they advance up the pitch? The benefits with this are that players will become more comfortable on the ball, have time to scan  and build their attack as a team.
